What we do

An experienced controls engineer on the owner's side: planning upgrades, holding vendors to the specification, and making their systems work in your plant.

  1. Owner's engineering

A technical partner on the owner's side of the contract: scopes and specifications, bid evaluations, and review of EPC and vendor deliverables.

Scope & specifications · Bid evaluation · Design review · Construction & commissioning support

  2. Consulting & studies

Condition assessments, life-extension and upgrade-alternative studies, and subject-matter support on turbine controls, excitation and DCS.

Condition assessments · Life-extension studies · Upgrade alternatives · Technical SME

  3. Vendor solution integration

OEM control, excitation and monitoring packages brought into your plant: interface, I/O and interconnection design, logic diagrams and control narratives your integrator can build from independently, and vendor drawings merged into your drawing set.

Interface & I/O design · Interconnection diagrams · Logic diagrams & control narratives · Vendor drawing integration

  4. Network architecture & system planning

Control system networks designed for redundancy and security, and multi-year plans for migrating aging platforms.

Network architecture · OT security & NERC CIP · Migration roadmaps · Upgrade sequencing

How we work

From assessment to commissioning

  1. 01

    Assess

Walkdowns, existing drawings and system records establish what is installed and where the risks are.

  2. 02

    Plan & specify

Options weighed, a plan agreed, and specifications written so every vendor bids the same scope.

  3. 03

    Integrate & review

Vendor designs reviewed against the specification and integrated into your plant, with an independent check on safety-related work.

  4. 04

    Commission & close out

On-site consultation through commissioning, and field changes captured in the record drawings.

About

Sixteen years in power plant controls

MAC Engineering LLC is led by Jason McCroskey, PE, who spent 16 years in power generation before founding the firm, working on both the utility owner side and the engineering-firm side.

He has led I&C work from study through commissioning on combined cycle, combustion turbine and fossil units: turbine control and DCS upgrades, excitation and static starter replacements, remote DCS operation on redundant networks, and OT security designs. As acting I&C discipline lead, he reviewed other engineers' deliverables and mentored junior staff.

B.S. Mechanical Engineering, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, cum laude. Licensed Professional Engineer in Tennessee, Kentucky and Mississippi.
